Traveling Without Back Pain
When you travel, you’re often doing it for rest and relaxation. So you don’t want to have to deal with back or neck pain on your trip. Here’s how you can enjoy your time away from home.
Sitting in a car or plane is stressful. Before and during your travels, keep up your exercise and stretching routine.
Be sure to stand and walk from time, and stay hydrated, especially when flying. Avoid looking down during screen time. Upon arrival to your destination, avoid too much lifting, bending and twisting—after all, you should be relaxing!
If you’ve suffered from back pain in the past or want to prevent it, make an appointment before you embark on your travels and immediately upon your return. Chiropractic and craniosacral helps with jet lag too!
Hydration Strategies
It’s an essential building block for life—yet so many don’t drink even half of the daily recommended amount of water to keep hydrated. Water helps our bodies function better. And as chiropractors, we care about how your body performs.
Drink water through a metal straw (avoid plastic for the environment). Why? A straw allows you to drink larger amounts in a shorter time. The Institute of Medicine of the National Academies suggest a daily total water goal – including beverages and food – of 2.7 liters (91 ounces) for women and 3.7 liters (125 ounces) for men. Drink up!
